Avon confirms it has received official notification from the Ministry Of Commerce on being granted the first direct selling business license in China. As a result of receiving the license, Avon will now roll-out its previously tested single-level direct-selling model nationwide.

Avon will roll-out its business model from the test cities where the pilot program was conducted to other cities and provinces in China nationwide. The new business model will see the addition of Direct Sales Representatives, and Avon’s existing 6,000 beauty boutique owners, who continue to be important as Avon China’s lifeblood.

Avon began its operations in China in 1990. In order to comply with Chinese law, Avon China shifted to a retail model in 1998, and currently provides products through a network of over 6,000 beauty boutiques and more than 1,000 beauty counters.
